We celebrated the success of Doncaster’s children and teenagers in care at our Oscars-style evening at the Keepmoat Stadium on 28 April.

Local hero Ben Parkinson MBE presented the personal achievement awards. Ben has inspired thousands of people with his strength in overcoming the severe injuries he suffered in the Afghan conflict.

We hold the Celebrating Success Awards each year, in partnership with Doncaster Council, to encourage and inspire young people who live with our foster carers or in our children’s homes.  Awards are also presented to a number of care leavers who can live independently from the age of 16 but still receive our support.

This year’s winners included young people who had made outstanding progress in education, sports, drama and music.

Our Chief Executive, Paul Moffat, said: “I’ve heard many examples of courage, determination and kindness tonight which are a massive credit to our children and young people. I also want to thank our outstanding Doncaster foster carers and our staff who do so much to help children to reach their full potential.”

Ben Parkinson added: “It’s amazing to see these children achieving so much. I was very lucky to have 22 years with no problems in my life. These children have had to start much younger and they make me very, very proud.”

We welcome enquiries about foster caring from people aged 21 and over who have room in their homes and hearts to look after one or more children. For details contact 0808 129 2600.
